The Rainbow House
Bringing Hope, Happiness, and Dignity to
Children Infected or Orphaned by HIV/AIDS

-UDPATE-
When Robert and Danielle Penétte got a final extension to stay in their facility for one last year, they breathed a sigh of relief. They had enough time to build a new facility for 70 orphans infected or affected by AIDS. Over the years they had acquired the land and a significant amount of pledged support for a new building. But they needed the final, gap-bridging commitment. They got it from Cross International Catholic Outreach, thanks to God’s grace and the combined support of caring Catholics, including you.

It has been amazing to watch the steep hillside be carved out and transformed into a level building site. Much of the initial construction entailed excavating the land and laying a solid foundation. Initially, it was a challenge to even get a backhoe onto the land. But work has moved forward diligently. The foundation has asserted a firm footprint on the lush land, and the walls of the basement are in place.  The children will soon move into this lower level to live, while construction continues on the groundfloor and upper levels.

The move won’t come a moment too soon. They have until the end of September to vacate the current facility. While the building won’t be done by then, the basement will be ready to serve as a temporary dorm. The boys will occupy the rooms at one end, the girls at the other, and the future recreation room will serve as their common dining hall. Danielle says, “The support of Cross Catholic has been a blessing. We had the land, and we had money to start construction, but Cross Catholic is allowing construction to go on... we can work continuously.”

Project Description
Build an orphanage for 70 children who are infected with HIV and those who may or may not be infected, but are orphaned by AIDS. The facility will also serve as headquarters for a growing outreach program that helps hundreds of AIDS orphans who live in the greater community.
